The Problem
In urban environments, drivers frequently face difficulties finding available parking spaces, leading to wasted time and increased frustration. The lack of efficient systems for real-time parking information and payment management exacerbates these challenges, resulting in a less streamlined parking experience.
Secure Parking
In densely populated urban areas with limited public parking options, users struggled to find available spots. The challenge was to increase parking availability by integrating access to private lots within the app.
USER PAIN POINTS
In crowded city areas, users faced difficulties finding public parking due to high demand and limited availability. Secure Parking aimed to address this by providing additional options through private lots.
SOLUTION AND APPROACH
The Secure Parking feature unlocked access to parking spots in gated areas and private properties. By integrating these secured locations, we significantly increased the number of available parking options for users, improving their ability to find parking in densely populated areas.
We partnered with property owners to integrate secure parking spots into the GrydPark marketplace.
Lot Owners: Property managers used portal management tools to control their parking lots, including setting availability times, pricing, and monitoring lot usage.
GrydPark Parker: Users gained access to previously inaccessible parking locations. They could book in advance, receive instructions for accessing the lots, and open garages and gates directly through the app. This provided users with increased flexibility and choice in their parking experience.
Bulk Booking
Frequent users needed an efficient way to book multiple parking spots at once and plan ahead. The challenge was to create a feature that streamlined bulk bookings without compromising ease of use.
USER PAIN POINTS
Users needed the ability to plan their days and secure parking spots in advance. The lack of a streamlined bulk booking option made it difficult to reserve multiple spaces ahead of time, leading to uncertainty and potential scheduling conflicts.
SOLUTION AND APPROACH
The Bulk Booking feature was developed to allow users to reserve multiple parking spots simultaneously. Users could quickly book multiple spots, plan their parking needs in advance, and receive consolidated confirmations and invoices, simplifying their parking management.
Unauthorized Parking Resolution
Unauthorized parking was a common issue in private lots, causing inconvenience for property managers and legitimate users. There was a need for a solution to address and manage unauthorized parking incidents effectively.
USER PAIN POINTS
Users who had reserved parking spots often encountered unauthorized vehicles occupying their spaces, disrupting their plans and causing frustration. They needed a straightforward way to report and resolve these incidents.
SOLUTION AND APPROACH
Users could easily report unauthorized parkers by using the in-app reporting tool. This feature streamlined the process of flagging issues and enabled quicker resolution. Allowing users to feel in control and supported.
The Problem Resolution feature provided users with a simple, effective way to manage unauthorized parking incidents, enhancing their overall experience and ensuring their reserved spots were available as intended.
Project Summary
Throughout my involvement with the GrydPark app, I contributed to several key features, each aimed at enhancing user experience and expanding parking options. From enabling access to private lots and improving security to simplifying bulk bookings and resolving unauthorized parking issues, my work was focused on addressing real user needs and improving functionality.
The features I developed increased the app’s value by offering users more parking options, enhancing security, and streamlining the booking process. These enhancements led to a more flexible, secure, and user-friendly parking experience, ultimately contributing to higher user satisfaction.
Reflection
Working on the GrydPark app and the Property Management Portal provided me with a comprehensive understanding of designing for diverse user needs. I developed solutions for both end-users and property managers, gaining deep knowledge of how to build for different use cases while ensuring seamless integration between the app and the management portal. This experience highlighted the importance of creating cohesive user experiences across various platforms and reinforced my ability to address complex design challenges effectively.
